Sony has revealed that there was work on a sequel to the popular RPG classic Legend of Dragoon but it had been scrapped for
unknown reasons.
Legend of Dragoon was an epic RPG that came out rather late in the PSone’s lifespan, 12 years ago. The classic title is inevitable to arrive on PSN. The game was produced by Shuhei Yoshida, who is now President of SCE Worldwide Studios.Yoshida stated the following when asked about a Legend of Dragoon sequel:
“I still occasionally hear from fans of The Legend of Dragoon, and many want to know if there is a sequel,” Yoshida admitted. “Legend of Dragoon 2 was put into preproduction after I left the Japan Studio, but was eventually cancelled for some unknown reason, and the team members moved on to different projects.”
What the hell? We could’ve seen a sequel to one of the best RPG’s of all time? Sony what have you done. There is some good news though, the original Legend of Dragoon is set to arrive on PSN as a PSone classic on May 1st. Pricing is unknown at this point but as with most premium RPG’s, you can probably expect it to cost $9.99.
What are your thoughts on the cancelled LOD sequel? Do you care? Are you going to be picking up the original game when it hits PSN on May 1st?
