Battlefield 3 has been out for roughly 2 months now, well almost two months now and I've had a lot of time with the game to enjoy it's multi-player and play quite a bit of the story. I have to say Battlefield 3 is an amazing FPS and probably the best one to date. I was also looking forward to Modern Warfare 3 but not nearly as pumped for it as I was for Battlefield 3. My expectations for Battlefield 3 were surpassed in reality and DICE delivered a fantastic sequel to a popular series. One thing to keep in mind when playing this game, it isn't Call of Duty and the mechanics of it are different in various ways. Battlefield 3's online introduced a new mode "Team Deathmatch" which is what you'd expect it to be, traditional Team Deathmatch. I feel like while this was a nice addition to the game, it also hurts it a little. Battlefield 3 isn't mean't to be played like Call of Duty but it's mean't to emphasize on teamwork. Now with Team Deathmatch, newcomers to the series are playing Squad Deathmatch like Team Deathmatch and ultimately failing and sucking at doing so. SD and other game modes require you to rely on your team mates and work together to achieve the goal or high score, where as with Team Deathmatch you can absolutely suck but your team could still win and you'd still get points towards your ranking for winning a team deathmatch even if you weren't the physical person who ended the game.

Battlefield 3 is running on DICE's FrostBite 2 engine and the game itself just looks fantastic. More destructive areas, crisper graphics, and everything overall just runs a lot smoother then it's predecessor. Especially on the PS3. I've only played the PS3 version of the game so I can't speak for the other consoles or PC but from what I've played with the PS3 version I haven't experienced any true issues with the game at all. Some claim the PC version is better while others say they have a lot of problems with the PC version. I personally cannot talk for the PC version as I haven't touched that version of the game but from what I know, the PS3 version has no real quirks with it.

The story of Battlefield 3's single player from what I can gander from it, takes place where Bad Company 2 left off. You start out on a train taken over by terrorists and you have to make your way through the train to take control of it again while killing a few terrorists along the way. I won't give away much of the single player but i enjoyed the storyline for what it was.

Overall, Battlefield 3 is a solid FPS and a really fun multiplayer title any true FPS fan should have this game in their collection, especially with a hint of more realism over the Call of Duty series with destructable areas, tanks and fighter jets. Battlefield 3 takes a bit of the Modern Warfare experience but throws you into it to make you feel like you're on a true battlefield and really in a war. It's quite an amazing experience and while the gameplay differs from the Call of Duty series and take sosme getting used to if you're coming over from COD, it's a more polished game then Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 3 from what I've played of both. I can honestly say I prefer Battlefield 3 over Modern Warfare 3.

Gameplay - 8/10
Sound - 9/10
Graphics - 9/10
Fun factor - 9/10
Controls - 8/10
The Verdict: 9.5 out of 10

Nice review, I actually bought this game a week ago, haven't installed it yet for some reason I can't explain why, I really ought to do that though, since I'll probably like it a lot more than I do for MW3 xD

Yeah it's better then MW3 IMHO but you can't really play battlefield like a COD game otherwise you'll totally suck at it. You gotta tap the trigger buttons not squeeze...

Yeah, I noticed that when I was playing Bad Company 2, took me a while to get used to changing my entire playstyle.

Not bad, I wish I had the time to do more reviews. I've reviewed a couple of games before and a couple of movies but I just haven't the time to do any more. I should do when I finish college in September though.
